AI Humanizing Guides
Best AI Humanizers in 2026
The best AI humanizer for you is the one that keeps your meaning intact, fits your language, and charges a price you can predict. This guide compares eight tools: AI-2-Human, WriteHuman, StealthWriter, HIX Bypass, Undetectable AI, Phrasly, QuillBot and GPTHuman. We recorded what each vendor states about free access, input limits, modes, languages and pricing on its own site, checked in September 2026, and we report detector performance only where it is published in a benchmark anyone can inspect. Every claim is labelled: vendor statement, public benchmark result, or product fact we verified ourselves. Where we could not verify something, we say so instead of filling the gap.

How we compared these AI humanizers
We opened every vendor site and recorded what the product itself states: whether you can try it without an account, the input limit per request, the modes available, the languages supported, and the price of each paid plan. All figures were checked in September 2026 and are attributed to the page they come from.
We did not run our own detector laboratory. Every detector and meaning-preservation number in this guide comes from HumanizerBench, a public benchmark that publishes its prompts, outputs, detector verdicts and scoring script. Vendor marketing claims are quoted as claims, with the vendor named, and are never presented as tested results.
That distinction matters more here than in most comparisons. Humanizer pages are full of success rates and satisfaction scores that nobody can reproduce. A public leaderboard you can read, next to a pricing page you can check yourself, tells you more than any single figure a vendor prints on its own homepage.
The eight AI humanizers in this comparison
Each entry gives what the tool is best at, how you can start, and the price we verified on the vendor’s own pricing page in September 2026. Prices change often, so treat them as a snapshot and confirm before you subscribe.
- AI-2-Human: humanizer and AI detector in one product, three rewrite modes (standard, academic, casual), no account needed to try. Free without an account; paid plans from $4.99/month billed annually.
- WriteHuman: top of the September 2026 HumanizerBench cycle with 78.29. The benchmark is operated by WriteHuman, so read its result with that in mind. Pricing is listed on writehuman.ai.
- StealthWriter: free plan with 10 humanizations and 10 AI scans a day, 1,000 words per input, light, medium and aggressive rewrite levels. Starter from $20/month.
- HIX Bypass: 50+ languages, Fast, Aggressive and Latest modes, built-in detector after each rewrite. Standard from $9.99/month billed annually (5,000 words a month).
- Undetectable AI: the widest tool stack of the group and 50+ languages, with a browser extension. Free to start on the core tools; paid plans raise the limits.
- Phrasly: humanizer, detector, writer, translator and document editor in one platform. Free with an account; Premium from $12.99/month according to Scribbr’s June 2026 comparison.
- QuillBot: the most established option, with a grammar checker, paraphraser and citation tools alongside. Free at 125 words per use and 6 uses a day, no sign-in.
- GPTHuman: tone profiles such as Standard, College and PhD, 80 languages claimed by the vendor, and a built-in detector. Free to start with an account.
Our recommendations
Different humanizers suit different jobs, so here is where each one fits. Note the split between detector performance, which we can only report from published benchmarks, and workflow and value, which anyone can verify by using the tools.
- Best overall for most people: AI-2-Human. It is the only free start in this list that gives you a humanizer and an AI detector together with no account at all, and its limits are published rather than discovered after a paywall.
- Strongest published benchmark result: WriteHuman, first in the September 2026 HumanizerBench cycle, with StealthWriter and HIX Bypass close behind.
- Best free plan without an account: AI-2-Human, with 200 words per rewrite and 5 rewrites per 24 hours. QuillBot is the closest alternative at 125 words per use and 6 uses a day.
- Best for volume: HIX Bypass Unlimited and StealthWriter Pro, both aimed at teams humanizing large batches every day.
- Best writing suite: QuillBot, because grammar checking, paraphrasing and citations sit next to the humanizer.
- Best for many languages: HIX Bypass and Undetectable AI both state support for 50+ languages; GPTHuman claims 80.
One honest limit on our own recommendation: AI-2-Human is not yet part of the HumanizerBench test set, so we cannot quote a third-party detector score for it. Our pick rests on workflow and value, both of which you can verify in a minute. If passing one specific detector is the only thing that matters to you, start from the benchmark results and test your own text on your own detector.
What the public benchmarks show
HumanizerBench ran 33 prompts through 14 humanizers in its September 2026 cycle, tested on 2026-09-01 under methodology v1.2.0, and submitted every output to five detectors: GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Copyleaks, Winston AI and Originality.ai. Overall scores combine bypass rate at 42% weight, meaning preservation at 32%, readability at 16% and consistency at 10%, with penalties for returning the input unchanged, refusing to rewrite, drifting from the original meaning, and padding the text to dilute the AI signal.
- WriteHuman: 78.29, first in the published top three
- Stealth Writer: 75.39, second
- HIX Bypass: 73.97, third
- Also in the cycle: Undetectable.ai, Phrasly, Grammarly, StealthGPT, Humbot, Walter Writes, AI Humanize io, Humanize AI Pro, Super Humanizer, Penlify and StealthBypass, with SupWriter debuting at fifth place
HumanizerBench is operated by WriteHuman, one of the tools it tests, and it says so openly. What makes the results worth reading anyway is that every prompt, output, detector response and scoring script is published in a public repository, the tools are bought at full price, there are no affiliate links, and vendors can dispute results under a written fairness policy. A self-run benchmark is still a self-run benchmark, so treat it as one input rather than a verdict.
AI-2-Human: our pick for most people
AI-2-Human does two jobs in one product. It rewrites AI-generated drafts into more natural prose, and it runs the same text through an AI Detector so you can see which passages still read as machine-written. You can start without creating an account, which is unusual in this category, and the free limits are stated up front instead of hidden behind a sign-up wall.
- No account needed to try the humanizer or the detector
- Three rewrite modes: standard, academic and casual
- Humanizer and detector share one quota, so checking your rewrite costs no extra subscription
- Published limits: 200 words per rewrite and 5 rewrite runs per 24 hours without an account
- Signed-in users get a history of their rewrites and can delete saved content
What it does not do: it is not in any third-party benchmark yet, so we cannot show published detector scores for it; its per-request ceiling is lower than the batch tools on Pro plans; and its suite is focused. You will not find a grammar checker, citation generator or plagiarism scanner here the way you would with QuillBot or Undetectable AI.
Free and paid access, checked September 2026: without an account, 200 words per rewrite, 5 rewrite runs and 15 detector runs per 24 hours. A free account raises this to 1,500 words a month and 300 words per rewrite. Basic is $9.99 a month, or $4.99 a month billed annually, for 12,000 words a month and 700 words per rewrite. Pro is $19.99 a month, or $9.99 annually, for 30,000 words a month and 5,000 words per rewrite. Unlimited is $59.99 a month, or $29.99 annually, for 500,000 words a month.
Verdict: the strongest starting point in this list if you want to judge a humanizer on your own writing without paying or registering first, and the only one here that pairs the rewrite with a detector on the same free session.
The tools leading the public benchmark
WriteHuman
WriteHuman took first place in the September 2026 HumanizerBench cycle with 78.29, and it has held the top position across recent cycles. It operates the benchmark itself, which the site discloses on every page, so its placement is best treated as a claim supported by published data rather than an independent finding. Its strength in the data is bypass rate, the most heavily weighted component. We could not confirm a current price list on its own site during this review, so check writehuman.ai for plans.
StealthWriter
StealthWriter placed second with 75.39 and has the most readable free structure in the paid group: the $0 plan includes 10 humanizations and 10 AI scans a day with 1,000 words per input. Rewrite levels run from light to aggressive, and you can click any sentence to pick from alternative phrasings, which is useful when one sentence drifts. It requires an account. Starter is $20 a month for 50 humanizations a day, and Pro is $100 a month for 350 a day.
HIX Bypass
HIX Bypass came third at 73.97 and is the most feature-heavy of the three. It supports 50+ languages, offers Fast, Aggressive and Latest modes, and runs a detection pass after each rewrite. The site advertises a 99.5% success rate and 100% undetectable output, which are vendor claims, not benchmark results: the published score of 73.97 is the number to trust. Standard is $9.99 a month billed annually for 5,000 words a month, Premium $14.99 annually for 50,000 words, and Unlimited $15.00 annually for unlimited words.
Established humanizers worth comparing
Undetectable AI
Undetectable AI is the broadest platform in this list: humanizer, text detector, image, audio and video detection tools, a fake PDF detector and a browser extension. It states support for 50+ languages and says it can start for free on core tools, with paid plans raising the limits. It appears in the HumanizerBench cycle but not in the published top three. Choose it if you want one subscription for several kinds of detection, not just text.
Phrasly
Phrasly bundles eight writing tools, including a humanizer, detector, writer, translator, document editor and plagiarism checker. It says its models were trained on more than 500,000 human-written articles and that annual billing saves up to 60%. Scribbr’s June 2026 comparison reports a free tier of 300 words with a sign-in and a Premium plan at $12.99 a month with unlimited humanization, and describes the humanizer as offering several drafts to choose from. Its ethics page advises using it as a refinement tool rather than a substitute for your own thinking.
QuillBot
QuillBot is the most established name here and the best value if you want tools around the humanizer: grammar checking, paraphrasing, a citation generator and its own AI detector. Humanization covers Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and four English dialects, and Premium removes word limits while adding deeper rewrites, tone insights and rewrite history. QuillBot states plainly that the humanizer improves how writing reads and is not a tool for evading AI detection, and it asks users to disclose AI assistance where policies require it. Scribbr reports the free tier as 125 words per use with 6 uses a day and no sign-in.
GPTHuman
GPTHuman focuses on voice control: tone profiles such as Standard, College and PhD, modes such as Balanced and Enhanced, an API for larger volumes and a claimed 80 languages. The vendor says content flagged by a detector will be rewritten free of charge, which is a strong claim to read carefully: it is a vendor promise, not a measured result, and it depends on which detector and which text. It is not in the published benchmark top three. An account is required to start.
Best free AI humanizer
Free plans differ in two ways that matter: whether you need an account, and how much text you get per attempt. AI-2-Human is the only tool in this comparison that lets you humanize text and check it with an AI detector without registering, at 200 words per rewrite and 5 rewrites per 24 hours. That is enough to judge quality on a real paragraph.
QuillBot is the closest free alternative at 125 words per use and 6 uses a day with no sign-in, and it adds a grammar checker. StealthWriter gives more attempts, 10 humanizations a day, but asks for an account and caps free input at 1,000 words. Scribbr’s comparison notes that HumanizeAI.pro allows 400 free words with no account, so if you only need one long paste without registering, it is worth a look; it does not appear in the benchmark data we cite.
Best AI humanizer for students
For coursework, the tool matters less than how you use it. A humanizer can help you turn a rough AI-assisted draft into writing that sounds like you, and it cannot make an unread, unedited essay yours. Many institutions treat undisclosed AI assistance as misconduct regardless of how natural the final prose reads, so check your policy before you rely on any tool in this list.
If your goal is detecting the problem rather than hiding it, run your draft through an AI detector first and rewrite the flagged passages yourself. That is why we would send students to AI-2-Human: the rewrite and the detector sit in the same place, so you can see which sentences triggered a check and revise them properly, or to QuillBot, which offers the surrounding grammar and citation tools coursework usually needs.
Notice that the most established tool in this list states outright that its humanizer is not for evading detection, and that a second one asks users to follow their institution’s AI policy. That framing reflects the consensus in the market, and it is worth taking seriously before you optimise for a score.
Best AI humanizer for writers and marketers
In publishing, the constraints are input size and monthly volume rather than per-attempt limits. HIX Bypass Unlimited and StealthWriter Pro are built for daily batches, with 5,000 words per input on the paid tiers, while Undetectable AI suits teams that also check images and audio.
Value matters as much as price. Undetectable AI says its image detector has no per-image charge, and the paid plans at AI-2-Human start at $4.99 a month billed annually, which is cheap enough to test against a live workflow before committing.
A humanizer is not an SEO strategy. Google’s guidance rewards original information and experience, and a natural-sounding rewrite of a generic draft stays generic. The useful workflow is to humanize the awkward passages, then add the details only you can supply.
Best humanizer if you also check AI scores
Rewriting without checking the result is guesswork, because detectors disagree with each other and with themselves: the same text can read as human on one and AI-generated on another. HumanizerBench tests five detectors precisely because of that.
Tools that pair the rewrite with a check save you a second subscription. AI-2-Human includes an AI Detector and, on a free session, gives you 15 detector runs per 24 hours alongside 5 rewrites, so you can iterate until the flagged sentences are gone. QuillBot, Undetectable AI and StealthWriter also include detection, and StealthWriter highlights sentences that still need work.
What makes a good AI humanizer
A rewrite is only useful if it survives the rest of your work. Six things separate a real humanizer from a synonym spinner:
- Meaning preservation: your argument, numbers and names survive unchanged
- Natural rhythm: sentence lengths vary instead of repeating one pattern
- No padding: the output is not inflated to dilute the AI signal
- No invented facts: the rewrite does not add claims you never made
- Honest limits: input size, monthly volume and free usage are published before you pay
- Control: modes and alternatives let you keep your voice rather than adopting the tool’s
The lowest AI score is not always the best rewrite
It is easy to optimise for one number and damage the writing. The fastest way to lower an AI score is to pad a paragraph, which also makes it worse. HumanizerBench assigns a penalty on exactly that basis, and it also penalises outputs that drift from the original meaning, so a tool cannot win by rewriting until the text says something else.
Detectors are also noisy. They disagree with each other, update constantly, and behave differently on non-English text and on short passages. A single reading is a signal, not a verdict, and a 0% result on one detector does not mean other detectors, or next month’s model, will agree.
The better target is writing you would sign your name to. If the rewrite reads naturally, keeps your meaning and passes the detector you actually face, the exact score is a detail.
What a humanized rewrite actually changes
Here is an illustrative pair used on our own site, with the kind of changes a good humanizer makes to AI-generated prose.
Before
In today’s fast-paced digital world, effective communication is more important than ever. Businesses need to clearly communicate their ideas in order to connect with their audience and achieve their goals. Furthermore, creating high-quality content can help organizations build credibility and improve customer engagement.
After
Today, when things are happening quickly online, clear and effective communication is extremely significant. Companies have to express their thoughts in a very straightforward manner, so as to be able to reach their audience and attain their purposes. Besides, generating excellent content will allow companies to become trustworthy and enhance customer interaction.
How to humanize your text in three steps
The comparison above matters less than the loop you build around it. Paste a draft, rewrite it, check it, and revise what the check flags. Repeat until the writing sounds like you and the detector you face agrees.
- 1
Paste a real draft
Use text you actually wrote with AI assistance, not a sample, so the result tells you something useful.
- 2
Choose a mode that matches the job
Academic for coursework and reports, casual for posts and emails, standard when you want the smallest change.
- 3
Check the rewrite before you submit it
Run it through a detector, read the flagged passages yourself, and revise anything the rewrite made worse.
Before you submit: a practical checklist
- I checked whether I can try the tool without creating an account.
- I compared the free input limit per rewrite, not just the monthly word count.
- I confirmed the current price on the vendor’s own pricing page.
- I know which differences are vendor claims and which are published benchmark results.
- I tested the humanizer on a paragraph of my own text before subscribing.
- I checked that the rewrite kept my meaning, numbers and names intact.
- I ran the rewrite through the detector I actually face, not only the one the tool provides.
- I kept a way to go back to the original text.
- I followed my school, workplace or client policy on disclosing AI assistance.
Frequently asked questions
It depends on the job. WriteHuman holds the top published score in the September 2026 HumanizerBench cycle, with StealthWriter and HIX Bypass close behind. Our own pick for most people is AI-2-Human, because it pairs a humanizer with an AI detector, needs no account to try, and publishes its limits and prices, though it is not yet in a third-party benchmark.
We checked what each vendor states about free access, input limits, modes, languages and pricing on its own site in September 2026, and reported detector performance only from HumanizerBench, a public benchmark that publishes its prompts, outputs and scoring script. We did not run our own detector tests, and we say so rather than presenting vendor claims as results.
They reliably make AI-generated prose read more naturally. How well they perform against a specific detector varies by detector, text length, language and date, and the benchmark data shows a wide spread even between well-funded tools. Treat any humanizer as one step in a workflow that includes your own review.
No tool can promise that. Detectors disagree with each other and are updated often, and HumanizerBench tests five of them precisely because a single result is not decisive. Vendor claims of 100% undetectable output are marketing statements, not measured outcomes.
The one you use honestly. Use a humanizer to improve wording in your own AI-assisted draft, check your institution’s AI policy, and disclose AI assistance where it is required. Pairing a rewrite with a detector, as AI-2-Human does, helps you spot the passages that need your own revision.
Check your text →AI-2-Human is the only tool here that lets you humanize text and check it with an AI detector without an account, at 200 words per rewrite and 5 rewrites per 24 hours. QuillBot allows 125 words per use and 6 uses a day with no sign-in, and StealthWriter offers 10 free humanizations a day with an account.
Try it free →Yes, you can humanize text without paying or registering. Without an account the limit is 200 words per rewrite and 5 rewrite runs per 24 hours, plus 15 detector runs per 24 hours. A free account raises this to 1,500 words a month with 300 words per rewrite, and paid plans start at $4.99 a month billed annually.
Humanize my text →A paraphraser rewrites wording and often leaves the rhythm untouched, which is why the result can still read as machine-written. A humanizer targets the patterns detectors look for, such as uniform sentence length and stock transitions, while trying to preserve your meaning. In practice the best tools sit somewhere between the two.
No tool or benchmark in this guide has tested Turnitin. HumanizerBench tests GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Copyleaks, Winston AI and Originality.ai, and its Turnitin page is a re-sort of Originality.ai scores used as a proxy. Anyone claiming a measured Turnitin result should be able to show the test.
Look at the input limit per request, not the monthly word allowance. StealthWriter, HIX Bypass and Undetectable AI all advertise inputs of 5,000 words or more on paid plans, and AI-2-Human raises its per-request limit from 700 words on Basic to 5,000 words on Pro.
They can, which is why the benchmark penalises meaning drift. Read the rewrite before you use it, check that names, numbers and claims are unchanged, and keep the original so you can compare. Shorter passages are usually safer than whole documents rewritten in one pass.
Several do. HIX Bypass and Undetectable AI state support for 50+ languages, GPTHuman claims 80, and QuillBot humanizes Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and four English dialects. Accuracy is generally highest in English, and most published benchmark data is English only.
That depends on the rules you are working under, not on the tool. Rewriting your own draft for clarity is normal editing. Submitting AI-generated work as your own, or hiding AI assistance where disclosure is required, is a conduct issue. QuillBot and Phrasly both publish guidance telling users to respect institutional policies.
Read the privacy section before you paste anything confidential. StealthWriter states that submitted text is not stored after processing, Phrasly states that content is processed securely and not shared, and AI-2-Human saves history only for signed-in users, with the option to delete it. Treat client, medical and unpublished material with extra care.
It records the highest overall score in the September 2026 HumanizerBench cycle, driven by bypass rate, the most heavily weighted component. The benchmark is operated by WriteHuman, which it discloses on every page, and it publishes every prompt, output and scoring script so others can check the numbers. Read the result as a strong, transparent, self-run benchmark.
